Nicola qualified as a teacher 20 years ago and has worked in a range of Primary schools since 2004. She has been in her current school since 2007 and has progressed successfully through classroom and leadership roles to her current position of Assistant Headteacher.

Profile

She was judged as an outstanding senior leader with an unrelenting pursuit of excellence by Ofsted, October 2014. As English Subject Lead she is fully involved in improving the quality of teaching and learning and is well respected for her work both within her cluster of schools and the local authority. She is a Local Authority Moderator and Cluster Lead for Key Stage 1. She also supports other Subject Leaders in auditing their subject, completing self-evaluation and planning next steps.

Her commitment to raising standards is delivered by sharing outstanding practise with colleagues within her own school and also for other schools. In her role as Assessment Lead, she has introduced rigorous assessment tracking systems and implemented proformas for  pupil progress. She has worked extensively with school based data in order to communicate a clear account of the school’s performance to Governors, producing analysis of data to identify trends and next steps, working with her Head to successfully plan improvement priorities as a result.   She plays a crucial role in mentoring and coaching teachers. Nicola loves her role in the classroom as well as her leadership role which presently focusses on developing her school’s new curriculum and implementing life after levels.
