Overview
A 2-hour course which offers a range of evidence-based strategies and practical classroom examples to support students to independently read complex academic texts across the curriculum. The course is applicable to all secondary teachers and English subject leads.School Impact
By the end of the course, you will:Have an overview of the national implications for improving literacy in secondary schools, with a focus on reading.
Have a good understanding of how explicitly teaching reading skills in all subjects can support students’ comprehension of written text.
Have a range of reading strategies and resources to use in the classroom that will promote independence and help pupils to actively engage with the texts they study.
