MH01 Session 2/2 How can we have a Whole School Approach to Children and Young People’s Emotional Wellbeing?

Overview

This course is delivered over two, 2-hour sessions and is aimed at senior leadership team, teachers and other school staff, within both primary and secondary education, with the aim of understanding how the Whole School Approach to emotional wellbeing can be used effectively and incorporated into your school.

School Impact

Session 1 will introduce the Whole School Approach and why it is important for pupil’s wellbeing, as well as academic attainment.

Session 2 will be introducing ways in which your school can incorporate new practices, as well as celebrating existing good practice.

By the end of the two sessions, you will-

· Understand the importance of children and young people’s emotional wellbeing, and how it can impact on learning and educational attainment.

· Understand what the WSA Approach to Emotional wellbeing is, and how it differs from previous initiatives and other interventions.

· Be able to do a baseline audit of how emotionally healthy your school is and recognise and celebrate good practice already taking place.

· Be able to identify a number of areas for each of the eight domains of the WSA that could be successfully introduced within your school.
