AT01 Quality of Education in History with Allan Torr

Overview

This course delves into the essence of quality history education, exploring key elements such as effective curriculum structure, impactful teaching strategies, and the leadership required for successful implementation.

School Impact

There are three main focuses for this session:

• What does a good quality of education in history look like?
• What does good leadership of history look like?
• What do the Ofsted research papers say about history?

The quality of education in each of the foundation subjects depends on a strong structure in the scheme of work that meets the ambition of the national curriculum but is well-sequenced. Teachers then deliver the content through well-chosen activities and assessments. Subject leaders have a secure overview of how the subject is implemented across the school and its impact on pupils' knowledge and memory.

The session will cover Ofsted research papers, what subject leaders can do to lead their subjects, what a good curriculum structure and implementation looks like, and, importantly, time for networking.
